Inspired by the beautiful Fishcombe Cove, a sheltered pebble beach nestled between wooded cliffs. As children, Sandy and her sister would often spend time here exploring the shoreline. The soft mauves and purples found within the pebbles, seaweed and changing coastal light inspired this gentle shade. A colour that captures quiet moments by the sea and treasured childhood memories.

The Brixham Collection by Brixham Sewing Box | Anchor & Thimble
A town told through colour.

Every handcrafted cotton reel in The Brixham Collection tells a story. Created by Sandy Richards, owner of Brixham Sewing Box and founder of Anchor & Thimble, each reel has been lovingly inspired by the places, landmarks and treasured memories of her beloved hometown of Brixham, South Devon.

From childhood adventures and family walks to iconic coastal views and local traditions, every colour has been carefully chosen and named to reflect the spirit of this unique fishing town. For those who know Brixham, these names will feel instantly familiar. For those discovering it for the first time, they offer a glimpse into the charm, character and rich history that make this corner of Devon so special.

Echoing sewing heritage, the wooden‑spool design features soft mauve thread and a vintage circular label which reads: Fishcombe Mauve, Brixham Sea Gulls, High Grade Cotton, 100 Yards (91 Metres). Locally made and handcrafted in Brixham, while playful vintage labels and subtle surface grain and colour variations make each piece uniquely charming. Each shade is named after a beloved Brixham location or notable figure, adding a layer of local heritage to its charm.

Delivery

We like to keep things simple.

• FREE UK Tracked Delivery when you spend £40 or more
• FREE Click & Collect is also available from Brixham Sewing Box.

We normally dispatch orders within 1–2 working days, and your order will be sent using a tracked delivery service.

Larger or heavier orders

Our standard £4.45 delivery charge covers the vast majority of orders. Very occasionally, an exceptionally large or heavy order may require an additional delivery charge. If this applies to your order, we will always contact you before dispatch and before any additional charge is made.

A little tip: If your basket is close to £40, it may be worth adding that extra reel of thread, packet of buttons or trim you need - once your order reaches £40, UK tracked delivery is on us.

Samples

We offer an online sampling service, with up to 8 samples available from any of our fabrics. We strongly recommend ordering samples to check a fabric’s suitability before placing a full order. Samples are sent via Royal Mail’s Tracked service (48h) for £2.40 (UK only).

Returns

We strongly recommend ordering fabric samples before purchasing. Fabric cut specifically to your requested length is considered a custom order and cannot be returned unless faulty. Pre‑cut lengths and standard units can be returned under our normal policy.

We offer a 14‑day return policy. You have 14 days from receiving your item to request a return. Please contact us for approval and return instructions.

Certain items are non‑returnable, including bespoke or customised products and fabric cut to your measurements.
